Exquisite sun-dried whole in the fruit (Natural) coffee

Supernatural? We're not kidding. The meticulous method for producing this coffee results in flavors that are other-worldly.

It's like this. While the high regions of Ethiopia's Yirgacheffe are known for washed coffees (think lemony and very perfumey), our beans are treated decidedly differently.

The approach starts with carefully selected, purely ripe fruit. Then, the whole cherries are spread out on tables and dried in the sun. (In contrast, washed beans are skinned and pulped at a washing station.)

The drying process takes tremendous attention. The cherries have to be spread to a single layer. From 11:00am until 2pm, when the sun is its hottest, the beans need to be carefully covered. And any individual spoiled fruits are culled before they can dry.

Sun drying whole cherries is risky, time consuming (two weeks per batch), and inconsistent (hence the advent of washing). But, when only the best beans are used and the stars align, the results are magnificent.

So, what's super about this coffee is meticulous preparation on top of superior terroir. What's supernatural is the taste; when the bright, citric brilliance of Yirgacheffe meets the intense, wine-like expression of sun-dried sugars, there's nothing like it in this world.

I discovered a similar varietal close to twenty years ago, and it proved to be extremely difficult to find. That did not stop my yearning for this amazing coffee. When I happened upon Peet's Ethiopian Super Natural, I was so excited to find it that I may have even shed a few tears. Absolutely the most amazing coffee ever roasted. Next year I am buying as much as I can. This is truly a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Peet's please roast more next round! This is one of my all time favorite coffees, unbelievable smooth finish with the blueberry undertones. I couldn't wait to get up in the morning to drink this. I will have this on my top list and buy many more bags next time.

Great full-bodied, satisfying cup of coffee (French press).
Please add this or an Ethiopian Yirgacheffe to your regular coffee offerings.

Ethiopian Super Natural is the best coffee ever! It is smooth and rich with hints of blueberries but, not overly fruity as that would not work for me. I could probably even do this black, because it's just that smooth. I bought this as a treat as the organic peets coffee holds my subscription( the next best thing) . But, this one is my ultmost fav. I would script this in a heart beat if it were possible. Nonetheless, I heart this coffe and will buy it when ever it is available. I love this stuff!

So I grew up in Berkeley and during the 50's found Peets and The Cheese Board on Vine near Shattuck! My first introduction to gourmet food and what would become the Gourmet Ghetto in North Berkeley! Was in Peace Corp in Ethiopia in early 60's and revisited in 2012. love the coffee and their ceremony around roasting it. Very Strong!!! So glad you are still here!

My favorite coffee - there is no comparison.

The cup crafted by the hand of Zues himself, this Ethiopian powerhouse provides only the most brilliant essence of lush blueberry and juicy delight. One might find themselves transported to the gardens of Eden whilst sipping this magical brew.

Thank you, Peet's.
