About this product

Product details

Sheng Pu'er Tea: Our Pu'er Tea was harvested from tree-sized tea plants growing in the Jingmai Mountain area of Yunnan in Southwest China.

A Sheng Pu'er is left fairly green at the beginning of it's life and turns dark over many years of aging. This tea was harvested in Spring of 2007 and Autumn of 2009. We acquired it in 2010 and had it pressed and aged in a special warehouse in Hunan.

Now, over five years later, tea has developed honey-sweet, sappy astringent flavors and the beginnings of a round, lingering mouthfeel. Expect aromas of baked acorn squash, distant wood smoke and pickled vegetables. As this tea continues to age, it will get smoother, darker, and richer, hitting its stride in another 3-5 years. It should age successfully for at least another 2 decades. Weighs 4.4oz.

Gaiwan Tea Set: This exquisite 6-piece Chinese porcelain tea set comes complete with a gaiwan cup, lid, tea strainer and saucer along with 2 serving cups. Perfect tea set to start your day or a relaxing afternoon tea break for yourself or with a friend.

Comes in a signature Peet's gift box

Rating is for tea (see my two reviews of its quality and flavor; three-star rating for gai-wan.)

Gai-wan brewing is a decided learned art; not complicated but you'll need to watch some you-tube presentations and practice. It is quick and simple, but handing the lid during the pouring is a learned skill. Most Westerners would be happier with a handmade Chinese clay teapot, since they are more adaptable to either eastern or western-style brewing.

This gai-wan set is quite fragile and was broken when it first arrived; however, it was replaced quickly. Handle it with real care.
