About this tea

Tea Story

It's unusual to blend black and green teas because the flavors are so different, but our Pumphrey’s Blend is a study in complementary complexity. A blend of India and China black teas, green tea and jasmine-scented green tea, each is selected as much for flavor as for uniform leaf size, to aid consistent mixing. The result is a brisk cup with a fresh and flowery aroma, as delicious iced as it is hot.

Brewing Tips

Start with a preheated cup or teapot.
Measure 1 spoonful (3g) of tea for each cup of water.
Bring the water to a rolling boil; steep tea for 4 minutes.
Strain leaves while pouring.

This makes a great iced tea. The jasmine adds the essence of sweetness without actually being sweet (I never add sugar to tea) and both the black and green tea flavors are balanced, complementing each other in a surprising way. It's less astringent than an iced tea made from black tea, but more flavorful than an iced green tea. This blend really accentuates that best of each component!

If you're absolutely in love with the Summer Blend iced tea (like I am), unless your taste in teas is broad (I cannot stand flavoured teas), this is not one you'll enjoy. Threw out the tin after making my first batch, all of which (except for half a sip) went down the drain. I'll stick with my Summer Blend, which I buy by the pound.

This is one of my two favorite teas, this one for summer, Scottish Breakfast for winter. This is delicate but full-flavored, a lovely tea.

I love this tea! It can be brewed strong but is never bitter, very distinctive, wonderful aroma, and delicious with a little milk. Highly recommended!

What can I say? I've tried a dozen or so Peet's Teas in the last few years and this is the one I keep coming back to. I usually shy away from blends of teas or wines or anything, but this one really works--the green tea adds sweetness and fragrance to the underlying rich liquory black. I drink this with a bit of milk as my first cup of the day.

I've always loved Pumphrey's Blend. This is the only tea I've seen that blends black and green teas and the result is a unique and wonderful tea. The jasmine adds a nice floral quality and makes for a great tea either hot or iced.
