Coffee Story

Our hometown of Berkeley is known for its worldly culture, which inspired the global character of this medium-roast blend. Named for our beloved bustling café on Solano Avenue, where Peet's regulars of all backgrounds have been coming since 1990 for their morning ritual of coffee and conversation, it's a perfectly balanced blend of African, American, and Pacific coffees.

These devoted Peetniks expect the world from us, and the aromatic, lively, and very well rounded Cafe Solano — evincing a subtle complexity of fruit and floral notes — was created with their high standards and sophisticated tastes in mind.

This is my new favorite coffee; ever since I started measuring my coffee with tablespoons when brewing it. It's the best ever! It is my understanding that there is more caffeine in lighter roasts, which is how I discovered it.

A wonderful medium roast coffee! I have a Jura Capresso machine, which lets me experiment with varying strengths of coffee and espresso. This blend has a wonderful smooth flavor and perfect finish no matter what settings I use. And that is quite a feat. Most coffees only taste good at one strength setting, or only as an expresso versus brewing as a regular coffee. I recommend this blend to all my friends and family.

At last, a great Peets blend which is not over-roasted. I've been drinking Peets for many years, most recently Top Blend (until it was discontinued), then my own blend of Columbia and New Guinea Highlands, and finally, just straight Columbia. Yes, I know burnt beans are in vogue among Peets enthusiasts, but Cafe Solano has a coffee flavor you can taste without the distracting bitterness of over-roasted beans. Please keep this in stock because Cafe Solano is my blend of choice now.

I am Dutch and really missed the good coffee I used to drink in the Netherlands, (Douwe Egberts). I tried all kinds of brands here but never could find something that comes close to the fine quality of what I used to consume. Finally I found Cafe Solano and am very satisfied with the quality of this brew. It is very smooth, balanced, I like it very strong. With other brands it then tastes either burnt or plain muddy. Not with Cafe Solano, you can make it strong and still have the smooth balanced flavor (I drink it black no sugar). Highly recommend it!

I'm glad to see Peet's accommodate customers whose tastes include medium-roast, drip (not French Press) coffee brewing. But some single varietals inherently have the perfect taste balance for this method. Just keep Panama in stock, Peets!

This is delicious coffee, very aromatic and pleasant tasting with lively undertones. I drink coffee black (usually Starbucks) and I think this Cafe Solano blend by Peet's is superb.
