Peet's 40th Anniversary

Garuda was one of the first blends Alfred Peet developed when he opened Peet's Coffee & Tea in 1966. Garuda is a classic Indo-Pacific blend, rich with earthy and nutty nuances. Garuda has been a staff favorite since the 1960s and is also a favorite among Peet's baristas, as it makes a great espresso. Named for the great bird that carries the Hindu god Vishnu, guardian of the world, Anyone who likes Indonesian coffees will appreciate Garuda Blend's well-balanced flavor.

Major Dickason's was created through a friendship forged more than 35 years ago. This full-bodied, complex blend was the combined effort of Key Dickason, a retired army officer and a regular at our original Berkeley store, and Alfred Peet, our founder. Together they sampled combinations of coffees until they arrived at what is now one of our most popular blends. Of course, we named it after our friend - and promoted him to Major in the process. Rich, mellow and smooth - and the top choice of coffee enthusiasts everywhere - it's superb brewed or as espresso.

Sierra Dorada was an early Anniversary Blend. Customers loved it so much that in 1997 it became the first permanent new blend in 12 years. It was created by Jim Reynolds, who inherited the master craftsman title from Alfred Peet. This special blend includes top-quality coffees from East Africa, Central America and Indonesia; rich, full-bodied, lively, and spicy, with hints of nuts and fruit flavors. The end result is a rich, mellow brew with multi-layered flavors, that should keep you intrigued cup after cup after cup.
