The signature taste and rich coffee character of French Roast comes from a longer, hotter roast, which not all beans can handle. For our darkest roast, we select only top-quality Arabica coffee from the highest altitudes of prime Latin American growing regions. Beans mature slowly at these altitudes, becoming denser, harder and packed with flavor — perfect for retaining boldness and complexity under the intense heat of a deep roast.
Peet's French Roast is not a coffee for the cautious, but for those who embrace the powerful taste, pronounced smoky overtones, and pleasant bite. This dark, deeply flavorful blend pairs well with cream and sugar, and inspires reactions like this one from John "Nic" Nicolini, a Peet's roaster for over 20 years: “On a normal day, I cup 50 coffees before 7 a.m. But I always come back to French. You inhale that smoky aroma, and then a subtle sweetness pops out that awakens your taste buds. It’s visceral."
Drinking this coffee in the morning is always a great start to my day. I usually on't drink my coffee black, but this coffee is so rich and smooth in flavor that nothing needs to be added to it! I'm really glad that I was introduced to this coffee when I got my first Keurig brewer - ever since then, this has been one of my favorite cups of joe. 5/5!!!
It's a great roast. Strong and full-bodied.
I grew up in New Orleans. I'm used to these brands: Community Club, French Market, Luzianne.
Don't you market a decaf version?
My first taste of French Roast was in a K Cup multi pack. It was Tully's French Roast, which was great. From that moment and on I believe French roast is the best coffee ever. My problem was living in Ohio I could only get Tully's in K Cups, no brick and mortar places to see if I can buy whole bean or ground. I went through a bunch of different French Roast to see if I could find a good one. Nothing Compared to Tully's and I kept going back to that K Cup.
One day in the local grocery store I was picking up some coffee. I had been drinking a lot of light roast and was really looking for a dark roast so I could taste my coffee again. I was also looking for not in a k cup. I had it narrowed down to 8oclock esspresso roast and Peet's French Roast. With not much success comparing to Tully's, I second thought the French Roast. Looking at the 8 oclock ground coffee the bag was sloppy like the air was not sucked out of it on all the 8 oclocks. Not what I am used to. Then looking at Peet's French Roast it was air tight so I took another chance on another French Roast.
Now I am in love with Peet's French Roast. I like it better than Tully's. The best part is I can pick up whole bean or ground French Roast at a local grocery store instead of worrying about getting it shipped from Tully or just buying K Cups.
Thank You Peet for making such a tasty French Roast and making it availiable!!!
The Peets French roast was my introduction to premium coffee. I have been drinking this since I was a student at Cal around 1976. I still purchase this stuff today.
Peets French roast may be too strong for some folks however. It is their signature darkest roast, and makes excellent espresso too.
I have been drinking Peet's since 2007. When I first moved to Seattle. Now I've in Portland. Whenever I try another brand it never compares. Peet's has ruined me for any other.
One of a kind. If you like a dark, strong cup of coffee, French Roast cannot be beat. Peet's is the only French Roast I drink and after you try it, you'll know why.
