About this tea

Tea Story

Used for centuries as an ingredient in teas, foods and perfumes, Osmanthus is a yellow-gold flower grown in southern China. Its pleasant, potent aroma has hints of apricot, chamomile and orange flower. Our proprietary blend marries osmanthus flowers with a select single-estate south China F.O.P. black tea for a complex, fragrant and memorable cup.

Brewing Tips

Start with a preheated cup or teapot.
Measure 1 spoonful (3g) of tea for each cup of water.
Bring the water to a rolling boil; steep tea for 4 to 5 minutes.
Strain leaves while pouring.

I could not believe it when I google Osmanthus Fancy it popped up the Peet's had it available. At the store in Orinda was told that they were not going to have it this year. I have been drinking "Osmanthus Fancy" for 1 year and hooked. This is the most delicious, delicate flavorful tea I have ever had- nothing like it. It has the delicate apricot and osmanthus flavor along with the mild flavor of black tea that feels so soothing in your tummy for breakfast. I ran around Berkley and Oakland in the summer to purchase 7 containers so now down to 1. So, so excited that you bought it again Peets. You must make it available to me every year and I will be sure to stock up so I don't run out. THE BEST TEA EVER. I wish your employees were better informed regarding whether teas are coming back or not. I was very sad but now so happy. Thank you so much.

This was an good but not great tea for me. The black tea was a bit to strong for the osmanthus - I do not really taste the signature apricot/floral osmanthus flavor. However, this does make an excellent iced tea. I make a strong batch (1 1/2 teaspoons per cup) and pour it over ice - very good.

This is my favorite tea from anywhere. I am an earl gray fan, but the osmanthus in this tea is much more subtle than the bergamot or lavender in earl gray. I love it hot with a little sugar, and iced without sugar. My daughter drank this every morning until we ran out. Now that it is back, I am stocking up.

I love this tea, I usually don't like flowery flavored teas, I usually prefer black teas. The Osmanthus tea has such a subtle sweet flavor. I always buy it when I see it in the stores.

I have tried various herbal and flavored teas from Peet's. I didn''t like this one. It was neither a good black tea or a distinctive flavored tea. There was no "deep, rich and sweet taste" and no "heady floral and fruit aroma". In contrast Earl Grey with Lavender has an exciting and refreshing aroma. I finished the tin but I won''t be trying this variety again.

This is a really terrific flavored black tea. I don't usually appreciate flavored teas, but I tried it for the first time last year at the local Pete''s and immediately bought a tin. It seems to sell out quickly in stores. The osmanthus flower adds a mellow, subtle apricot quality to the flavor. A tiny bit of sugar helps bring it out and round out the body. Not astringent or excessively floral as Jasmine teas can be. Although great hot, this makes a stunning iced tea that people will ask you about when served.

This is one of those seasonal teas that I look forward to every year. It's nice and brisk for ice tea in the summer and during the winter it's a great tea to enjoy with a bit of honey. There's a welcoming fragrance too with the tea that reminds you of fresh spring flowers. If you haven't tried it, you definitely need to.
