Coffee story

Altitude, volcanic soil, climate. These words may sound familiar to longtime subscribers, because they’re the “ingredients” of so many of the great coffees we source. Northeastern Tanzania has all three, and something else besides. Maybe it’s the mythic shadow of Mt. Kilimanjaro that produces the region’s iconic flavor: an intense balance of bright acidity and deep malty sweetness, with a finish as abidingly ultra-smooth as it starts.

These days, the next word after “Tanzania” is usually “Peaberry.” But here’s a trade secret for you: most of us at the tasting table will choose the larger, more uniform AA beans every time. Peaberries are great for their concentrated sweetness, but the finest double-A beans offer a more dynamic ride: more dimension, more aromas, more nuance. More interesting. You might call it the cupper’s grade.

Last year, this coffee was featured as good for iced coffee. Got it, loved it! Even though it's more expensive, one uses less over all --with the ice, the coffee goes farther.

This is a rich dark brew....the beans must be sun dried as they do not have the shine to them....but from your first grind you can smell the molasses and subtle floral undertones pique your interest. The flavor is rich and has a sweet lingering effect that leaves you craving for more!!! A+ on this pick Peets....looking forward to trying the New Guinea Highland offering next
