How It Tastes

Brilliant blend with natural Ethiopia roasted to bright, sweet, medium-bodied perfection

Some have described Alfred Peet as the “big bang”* of craft coffee—the one who started it all. When he set up shop in Berkeley back in 1966, he transformed America’s expectations of the depth, body and flavor in our cups. And that pursuit of greatness has never stopped. In celebration of our 50th year, we honored his legacy by taking a bold step ahead. Like Mr. Peet’s pioneering dark roasts, our new signature blend expands the horizon of what coffee can be: vibrant, full-flavored, boldly original, and roasted to medium-bodied perfection. It’s the perfect coffee to honor the man who still inspires us every day.

Worth Noting

If you love Major Dickason’s one-of-a-kind taste, you’ll find a kindred spirit in Big BangTM. This blend is crafted from some of the same premium coffees, as Major Dickason’s, but with a twist, thanks to the heavenly, aromatic citrus of Ethiopian Super Natural.

I love this blend. I grind it up and use it primarily for espresso in the morning, which turns out great every time.

We love this non bitter, low acidic coffee. We discovered Big Bang and became addicted after trying at least 12 other flavors and brands. If you don’t experience the same flavor then check your coffee maker. We use a percolator and a conical grinder and love it. We wish we could buy more than a pound at a time and get a discount but no dice.

Purchased a bag of the French roast and a bag of the Big Bang and both were absolutely terrible!! Absolutely no flavor, extremely bitter and yet bland. We have had Peet’s before and it was okay but after these two bags we will never purchase this coffee again.

My morning isn't complete until started with a cup of Big Bang. This is a flavorful, full-bodied coffee with well balanced acidity and flavor, that results in a cup with no bitterness. For those who report getting a 'watery' brew, check your machine. I prefer the k cups. I set my brew to 'Bold' which slows the flow of water and makes the perfectly rich cup. The Ethiopian Super Natural gives a flavor profile that's quite pleasant. I have a sensitive stomach and this blend doesn't cause me the issues Major Dickason's, Cafe Domingo or other blends present.

Great alternative to the dark roasts I normally gravitate towards. Love the slight touch of fruity sweetness without being overly acidic. Also very tolerant of different brewing styles from espresso to French Press
FYI I've been drinking Peet's since I arrived in Berkeley in 1978. I miss the coffee bar experience here in MO but love the fact I can still get fresh Peet's beans.
