About this coffee

Coffee story

Roast: Medium Roast
Process: Washed, Natural
Growing Region: Blend, Latin America, East Africa

Some have described Alfred Peet as the “big bang”* of craft coffee—the one who started it all. When he set up shop in Berkeley back in 1966, he transformed America’s expectations of the depth, body and flavor in our cups. And that pursuit of greatness has never stopped.

In celebration of our 50th year, we honored his legacy by taking a bold step ahead. Like Mr. Peet’s pioneering dark roasts, our new signature blend expands the horizon of what coffee can be: vibrant, full-flavored, boldly original, and roasted to medium-bodied perfection.

If you love Major Dickason’s one-of-a-kind taste, you’ll find a kindred spirit in Big BangTM. This blend is crafted from some of the same premium coffees, as Major Dickason’s, but with a twist, thanks to the heavenly, aromatic citrus of Ethiopian Super Natural. It’s the perfect coffee to honor the man who still inspires us every day.

I absolutely love this coffee. It has a very rich flavor without any of the bitterness of darker roasts. Other darker roasts sometimes give me indigestion but NOT this delightful medium roast. It will remain my favorite for some time to come

I am a dark roast fan and would also like the option of a decaf in a dark roast.

Big Bang tastes delightful, but there is a strange problem in brewing the beans I recently purchased at a local Peete's. I first bought BB at Costco a few months ago; on my last trip to Costco, they did not have BB, so I bought 2 lb. of BB beans at my local Peete's. Unlike the Costco beans, this new batch somewhat overflows the filter basket during brewing, making an inconvenient mess. I'm using exactly the same measure of beans and the same grind as before, yet these beans behave differently during brewing than those I got at Costco. I guess I'll have to use fewer beans to avoid the mess, but wonder if that will compromise the flavor. It's weird. Any insight on this, Peete's?

Our favorite coffee is Big Bang! So rich with flavor! Not sour at all... maybe he got a bad batch or something... not really sure! Ours is amazing!! My husband gets it from work

If I could give it ZERO stars, I would. This coffee is great if you like sour coffee, but if you don't, then pass on this one. I can't believe that Peet's dropped Cafe Solana for this brew.
