Just bought one of these. I think for 60 bux its definitely worth it for people not looking to spend hundreds of dollars on a proper burr grinder. It certainly blows away any blade grinder and compared to pregrinding my coffee at the store, now I can have it super fresh so I think its worth 60 bux. It is very loud.

This is pretty much the cheapest burr grinder you can buy and you get what you pay for. I'm a coffee connoisseur and I was appalled at the high speed beater type "grinder" that my mom was using. When that one quit working I jumped at the opportunity to buy her this grinder on the assumption that a burr grinder is a burr grinder. Bad assumption. This Cuisinart grinder is more of a cross between the high speed beater "grinder" and a real burr grinder. That's because the shape and speed of rotation of the grinding components are completely different. Instead of the relatively slow moving cone within a cone hardened grinding burrs of a good grinder this one has a high speed soft metal wheel with widely spaced hardened teeth around its outer edge. I''m sure that this is a cost control measure because the material that makes up the grinding surface has to be very hard which makes it expensive. The sa

This is a terrible burr grinder. It is a burr grinder, but you get a lot of fine coffee dust, espresso grind or finer, on a course grind setting. It is a mess to clean the receiving chamber, and it really must be cleaned and dried after every use because the dust sticks to the corners. There is no way to refine the amount of coffee one gets beyond two cup increments, which do not produce the same amount of coffee from one grinding to the next; so one brewing will be stronger than the next with the same setting. Pay more, get a decent grinder.

Pros -- cheap for a burr, does ok for drip on the finest setting, durable Cons -- makes enough noise to wake the dead, does not grind fine enough for espresso

I have used my grinder successfully for a number of years. The fine grind setting works well for me. I have yet to have a problem with the device in any regard. I highly recommend the product. As for those who were surprised(?) that 1. a coffee grinder is noisy, 2. create coffee dust and 3. requires occasional cleaning, what were your expectations?

We agree with Ms Carmona. We bought this grinder a month ago and have returned it. On the coarsest setting for a french press, we get coarse grounds as well as very fine grounds. The fine grounds stick to the receptacle, and grounds fly everywhere when you open the receptacle to pour the grounds in the french press. It is messy and does not work as expected.
