How It Tastes

We love natural Brazil coffees. They’re sweet, body-driven, and produce luscious espresso. The best examples exude a flavor like just-roasted hazelnuts. Minas is for Minas Gerais [mee-nas zher-ice], the biggest and we think best producing state located in the south-center of Brazil. "Naturais" is Brazilian Portuguese for natural, the bean preparation method we most prefer in this part of the world. It takes sun, and plenty of it, to dry all the way through the skin and sweet pulp of the coffee fruit to the seeds inside. This is done on well-tended patios, where whole cherries are raked continuously, and also on the trees, where a portion of the pickings are left to dry on the branch. In Brazil, with lower altitudes and less acidity, we find the typical washed coffee to be somewhat bland. Brazil Minas Naturais is anything but, making maximal effect of slow sun drying for a thoroughly sweet cup with mild fruit and caramel notes, unctuous hazelnut and smooth, full body.

Worth Noting

For the record, all of our favorite farms also produce coffees by the “pulped natural” method, which involves removing the skin and some of the fruit pulp from the outset, and the “washed” method, which fully removes it, as is the standard in countries like Costa Rica.

Although a darker roast than the "medium roast" label indicates, it tasted over processed to me every time I brewed it. Ordered it on a whim, thinking that I should step outside my comfort zone of just buying dark roasts.

It tastes like home! My wife gave me as a Christmas gift. We are both from Brazil and this coffee taste really great and reminds me everyday about the good coffee we have in Brazil.

Thought of showing one of my colleagues a taste of Brazilian coffee. He mentioned that he is allergic to nuts and I could not determine if the coffee was processed with hazelnuts or if it just tasted like it. With that being said I think it would be safe to expose that type of info on the product box to avoid any casualties. I personally tasted the coffee and was amused with the great taste which reminds me of my childhood in Brazil when Grandma would make us coffee for the afternoon snack. Thank you Peet's Coffee for bringing us such a great product from my county.

a rich deep and roast y coffee, with lots of vanilla and cinnamon notes along with cocoa, molasses and toast. Very satisfying.

Our new favorite! I prefer dark roast, my husband prefers a lighter roast. I tried this looking for something we'd both like. This is perfect for both of us! We can now make a full pot in the morning, instead of bumping into each other boiling and pouring over separate pots.
