How It Tastes
The Kenya auctions are always a time of anticipation and excitement, and we treasure the prized lots of Kenya Nyeri we win. The cup offers a preponderance of elegant notes: dark, jammy fruit layered with bright, floral aromatics. Each sip delivers that signature velvety Kenya texture, always soft and never sharp. We could go on all day, or better, we could offer you this delicious cup.
Kenya coffees are prized by cuppers as perhaps the best coffees in the world, and it’s easy to see why. They offer the most of everything: more aromatics, more acidity and the sugar to balance it out, the plushest texture and the most gorgeous complexity of flavor. Kenya coffees, frankly, make our hearts go pitter patter, and it’s the highlight of our year to taste the new crop samples from the Kenya auctions.
This year, we tasted dozens of select samples from the regions gathered around the foot of Mount Kenya. The landform is massive; it’s hard to think of it as a mountain, rather than a behemoth, a compass point for all the best coffee. The best of the best comes from Nyeri, the center of the most esteemed coffee growers in the country, and we were quick to enter our Monday night bids for Tuesday morning’s auction.
