About this coffee

Coffee story

At the heart of this blend are “cafeteros” or coffee growers that have been part of the Peet’s family for decades. These farmers are members of Central American co-ops in that are committed to quality.

Llano Bonito, the pretty plain, is a deceptive name for a cooperative located in the lofty canton of León Cortes, the heart (and height) of Costa Rica’s famed region of Tarrazú. The altitude—up to 1700 meters—and the coffee traditions of these 600 farm families produce a bright, sweet and citric cup that we have been sourcing for Peet’s for three decades.

Further north, Las Hermanas, a sisterhood of some 200 women growers in the highlands of Jinotega, contributes a beautiful Nicaragua coffee. These farmers are part of SOPPEXCCA, a co-op which has been a leader in promoting gender equality and empowering women. We’ve been working with Las Hermanas farmers since 2001 and we continue to be inspired by them. Equally inspiring is the coffee they produce; it offers a creamy body, milk chocolate sweetness, and a lingering finish.

Together, these two Fair Trade certified coffees offer a bright-yet-balanced blend with a lemony tang and smooth finish—a toast to the dedicated farmers who grow it.

I recently discovered Los Cafeteros Blend in my nearby national grocery Kro. I was surprised by the flavor and finish. I now enjoy it on a swap schedule with Major Dickason Blend. Sometimes I give friends the final ounces of MDB just so I can open up a new bag of Los Cafeteros Blend...or just mix both. It's very difficult for me to even try any others, these two are mine.

I came across Los Cafeteros in our local Harris Teeter just recently and since they were out of Peet's Sumatra and Major Dickerson, I decided to try it. Very pleasing taste. Not as complex as some Indonesian, but still very satisfying. It'll be a miracle if my HT continues to stock it!

I was sent this coffee by mistake on my last subscription order. Find it blah & not of good quality.

I bought this because my local market was out of Major Dickason's which has been my favorite coffee for almost fifteen years. This blend in now my new favorite and the best coffee I've ever had. Thank you Peet's.

Great earthly taste with all the smoothness of a morning day in the captivating Central America. If you want a coffee that takes you back to when you first realized what coffee was supposed to be then this is the last stop to the America's
