How It Tastes

Lush and full bodied with hints of cocoa and dates, and a complex, pungent aroma.

Distinctive in both flavor and appearance, Arabian Mocha Sanani grows under harsh, primitive conditions in the arid mountains of Yemen, on the Arabian Peninsula. The mocha variety of coffee favors a terrain of low bushes on barely cultivated land, and these plants sprout miraculously from spring water oases and rock-hewn terraces — where they have to struggle to produce every single coffee cherry. The centuries-old method for rendering the beans is equally arduous. When most of the cherries are ripe, the farmers pick them all at once and dry them on rooftops and hardened-earth patios. These dried coffee cherries are then hand-milled through traditional stone wheels to remove the hulls and release the two beans inside. This timeless, organic process is what accounts for the rare and naturally wild flavors characteristic of Arabian Mocha Sanani coffee.

Worth Noting

Although the unusually small, rounded beans are irregular in form, size, and color, they brew one of the finest cups of coffee on earth. The flavor is reminiscent of a spicy wine, with a full body and pungent, exceedingly complex aroma. Excellent on its own or blended, the unique taste is a perfect complement to almost any other coffee — especially in the classic blend with Java.

Just brewed my first (press)pot and it really is a wonderful coffee. The bloom was amazing and complex, and the first few sips were just as enjoyable. I get all sorts of nuances when I drink this coffee -- some mocha, some winey notes, a little bit of leather now and then, even a hint of tobacco. Very happy I purchased it.

Delicious! My new favorite Peets coffee. It's very smooth and flavorful, yet still a bold dark roast coffee. I love it!

I have enjoyed many types of peet's coffee over the years. The Arabian Mocha Snani is superb. Very mild even with 1% milk.

Good, but I think this would be better in a medium roast. Why Peets has to dark roast virtually everything, is a mystery to me.

Very impressed with the coffee. It was roasted wonderfully by the staff. I purchased this online and have been wanting to try arabian coffee. I grinded it fresh which smelled very complicated. For my nose i smelt a chocolately red wine. I brewed it aeropress several different ways. Honestly this coffee is impossible to screw brewing it because its so good. To me its so smooth and light bodied. I could drink this black with no sugar. Never did i think that was possible! To me its similar to sumatra and a light bodied african coffee. Its like a sumatra but much lighter bodied. Smooth and silky. Yet has a flavor similar to some african estates. If i could afford this i would drink this year round. I really appreciated this coffee. I only hope peets could have this available all the time. Thanks peets!
