How It Tastes

Rich, smooth, and complex, with a very full body and multi-layered character.

A loyal customer of our original Berkeley store, retired army officer Key Dickason brought the idea for our most beloved blend to Mr. Peet in 1969. Intrigued, our founder worked with the local gourmand and coffee aficionado to refine it. They sampled countless combinations before arriving at what is now our all-time bestseller. The result was so good, Alfred Peet decided naming it after his friend wasn't enough — Dickason's rich, complex blend also deserved a promotion from sergeant to major. Major Dickason's combines the best origin coffees from the world's premier growing regions, each imparting its distinctive regional characteristics while still effortlessly rounding into a smooth, balanced cup.

Worth Noting

Over the years, Major Dickason's has become the coffee that epitomizes Peet's: flavorful, deeply roasted, and unsurpassingly satisfying. But for us, Major D's is just like a relationship with an old friend. We'll always remember it as the story of a customer's passion, an expert's palate, and a shared love of coffee.

Life has become easier and more pleasurable since Peet's K-Cups in Dark Roast.

Loved the flavor of this blend, but did not like how the majority of Kcups purchased exploded in my keurig. I am not sure if this was a one time box, because I really did like the flavor after the clean up and straining out the grounds from my cup. Nervous to purchase these again.

I am a big coffee drinker, maybe too big, I really don't know what too big in terms of coffee is.
Major Dickason's is one of the very few brews that I can enjoy each and every time my Keurig kicks one out. I just love the stuff and probably would be considered a major stockholder if I invested the money I spent on it to Peet's stock.

I think my first Peet's coffee was in SF International. It was there house blend. I tried several different K-cup of Peet's and settled on Major Dickson. I now have both fresh roasted beans and Kpcup in my home. Would use nothing else

I've become very fond of the French Roast since I like a dark roast that doesn't have a bitter aftertaste, and wanted to try the MD to see how it compares. While it has a strong aroma that made me worry that it might have a strong kick to it, I found it to be surprisingly smooth with no bitterness or aftertaste whatsoever. In fact, it seemed closer to a medium roast to me as I didn't find it as flavorful as the French Roast which I still prefer, but I can see it appealing to a lot of people and will be an occasional blend for me to have when I want something a little more mellow.
