Price: $7.95
This signature blend isn’t actually of Russian origin, but honors the tradition of the 19th century tea trade.
About this product

Product details

Tasting Notes: Well-rounded with a full, smooth, ever-so-slightly smoky flavor

Horse and camel caravans would spend sixteen months making the roundtrip journey to Eastern China, arriving in the Russian capital laden with chests of tea. The leaves aged a bit along the way; Russian Caravan’s quality probably improved significantly with the opening of the Trans-Siberian railroad. Peet's take on this historic favorite is a Signature blend of China black teas for a smooth and smoky cup.

Brewing Instructions:
- Start with a preheated cup or teapot.
- Measure 1 spoonful (3g) of tea for each cup of water.
- Bring the water to a rolling boil; steep tea for 5 minutes.
- Strain leaves while pouring.

Excellent tea! We like it in the morning, especially during Winter. Has a smooth texture. Just the right amount of smokiness. Sometimes we mix in wild lavender, and it tastes like the legacy Earl Grey with Lavender. Great plain, or with dairy and sweetener.

I've tried many many teas over the course of my life: from your average, cheap, mass produced teas in grocery stores to ramen house barley tea in Japan and authentic, albeit pricey, fine black teas in England. As such, I can't recommend this tea enough.

This tea is fantastic for early mornings in the rain, fog or snow, and enjoyable on any cool afternoon of the year. The slightly-smoky flavor complements any breakfast with meat I've had and the tea in general is smooth and toasty, a delicious brew that I can't say has been topped when I'm looking for that kind of taste.

Best of all, this tea is great tasting and affordable. What you pay for a tin of this tea is well worth its weight if not more. You won't be disappointed with this purchase.
