Meet the Team: David Berube, Sr. Manager of Foodservice Operations

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF 
My name is David Berube, and I’m the Senior Manager of Foodservice Operations for the East at Peet’s Coffee, covering pretty much everything east of Colorado. I’m based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and lead a team of Operations Account Managers around the country who support customers across a range of industries, including colleges and universities, hospitality, and airports.

GIVE US A BIG-PICTURE LOOK AT YOUR ROLE
At a high level, my role is about making sure our team and partners are set up for success. That means supporting my team with the tools and direction they need, helping shape how we approach operations across the business, and staying closely connected to key customers to ensure we’re delivering a great experience.

WHAT GOT YOU TO THIS POINT?
I’ve spent over 25 years in the quick service industry, with most of that time focused on the specialty beverage space—and 11 of those years with Peet’s. I started my career managing stores, which gave me a strong operational foundation that I’ve carried into roles across training and development, sales, and franchise/license operations. Having experience on both the company-operated and franchise side of the business has shaped how I approach partnerships today. It’s given me a more balanced perspective and a better understanding of what it takes to make programs work in the real world—not just on paper. 

HOW HAVE YOU EVOLVED WITH PEET’S?
Peet’s has played a big role in my growth, giving me the opportunity to take on new challenges and continue evolving as both a leader and a business partner, working closely with internal teams and key external partners. At the end of the day, the fundamentals don’t really change—it’s about people, strong partnerships, and consistently showing up and delivering.

TELL US ABOUT THE QUALITIES YOU & YOUR TEAM HAVE THAT YOU TAKE PRIDE IN 
The best part about our Away from Home (AFH) team is that we’re small but mighty. Everyone takes ownership of their role and their results, but we also show up for each other when it matters. There’s a strong sense of accountability across the team—we own both our successes and our opportunities—and there’s a shared drive to keep getting better every day.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A GOOD STORY OR TWO
Recently, we were onboarding a new partner with over 50 locations in just eight weeks. It was truly an all-hands-on-deck effort, with both our operations and sales teams stepping in to make sure we executed the transition the right way. It’s a great example of how we work—collaborative, accountable, and focused on delivering for the customer.

WHAT HAVE YOU FOUND THE MOST REWARDING ABOUT YOUR WORK?
What I find most rewarding is seeing the team grow and take pride in what they do, while building strong partnerships along the way. That aligns closely with how I approach my work—focusing on people, accountability, and doing things the right way.

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO PEET’S (AND WHAT KEEPS YOU HERE)?
First and foremost—it’s the coffee. I’ve always believed Peet’s makes the best coffee out there, and I was a longtime Peetnik well before I ever joined the company. What’s kept me here is the culture. Peet’s really embraces authenticity and encourages people to think differently, which creates an environment where you can have a real impact. No two days look the same, and there’s always an opportunity to contribute—whether that’s to the business, our customers, or the team. Looking back, my experience has absolutely lived up to what drew me here in the first place. It’s a place where you can grow, be yourself, and make a meaningful impact.

LET’S END ON A FUN FACT
A recent highlight for me was the opportunity to join an Origins Trip to Costa Rica this past January. It was incredible to see firsthand how Peet’s truly walks the walk—spending time in the communities where we source our coffee and seeing the long-standing relationships we’ve built there. One of the most memorable moments was visiting Finca La Hilda, surrounded by coffee trees as far as you could see. The photo used in this profile was taken there—and honestly, it doesn’t come close to capturing how beautiful it was.
